Friend,

The Census continues to move forward and households have already begun to respond. However, in light of COVID-19, the U.S. Census Bureau has adjusted their operations to best serve the community to ensure everyone's safety, all while striving towards a complete count.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Operations surrounding Census jobs have been suspended until April 1. Individuals can still apply for Census jobs, but fingerprinting of new staff has been paused and training for new staff has been suspended.
  • College students who were previously living away from home but have now returned due to COVID-19 should still be counted at their college residence. Students who lived on campus (such as in a dorm or college-owned Greek housing) will be counted by the university or college. Students who lived off-campus should complete their questionnaire online using the address of the off-campus living space or apartment and include all of their roommates. If possible, one person should fill out the Census for all roommates. Need more clarification?  Watch this video!
  • Health and safety are of the utmost importance. Fortunately, it has never been easier to complete the Census from the comfort of your own home. The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the importance of numerous support programs that rely on Census data for funding allocation  – health services, child care, nutritional programs and more, Complete your Census today either onlineby phone or by mail.
