Dear Honorable Advocate Friend, With the recent landmark legislation in raising the minimum wage and the state's expanded paid family program soon to be signed into law, New Jersey should be proud of its progress. However, the state is missing a crucial piece to helping working families: a much stronger investment in child care. The New York Time's recent op-ed, "Daycare for All" explains how universal access to affordable, high-quality child care is not a radical idea, but a public responsibility. The time is right to put child care back on the ...agenda. And this time let's put it at the top. Quality child care helps our youngest children to thrive, while giving employers a stable workforce and strengthening the economic health of our families, our neighborhoods and the state as a whole.
