Gov. Murphy orders closures of child care centers, but questions remain.

Dear Friend,

Today, Governor Phil Murphy announced an executive order requiring child care centers to close by April 1st UNLESS they are solely serving children of essential workers.

Thank you to the countless child care providers, families and advocates who voiced their concerns as we urged for the closures and continue to advocate for the much-needed support that child care programs depend on. Without additional funding, child care centers across the state may close permanently.

New Jersey must do more to ensure the child care system will be able to serve children once the COVID-19 crisis is over. We will continue to provide you with details as soon as we get them. In the meantime, visit our COVID-19 webpage for resources for parents and child care workers.

Sincerely,
