Early Head Start is the only federal program dedicated to comprehensively promoting healthy child and family development for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers living below the poverty line. Yet only 8 percent of eligible babies and toddlers have access to this proven program.

As Head Start Awareness Month comes to a close, ZERO TO THREE has released new tools for Early Head Start practitioners and advocates:

• Early Head Start: An Essential Support for Pregnant Women, Infants, and Toddlers, a policy brief that makes the case for the expansion of Early Head Start and offers recommendations for federal and state policymakers.
• The Think Babies Early Head Start Advocacy Toolkit, which provides advocates with the tools they need to advocate for Early Head Start, including: talking points; social media graphics; state-specific graphics; and a sample op-ed.   

Right now, Congress is making funding decisions regarding Early Head Start and you have the opportunity to put these tools into action.
