NJ’s child care subsidy program will see $54 million in increased funding! You heard it first! The Murphy administration today announced that New Jersey’s child care subsidy program will see $54 million ($30 million federal; $24 million state) in increased funding. This increase comes as the state’s minimum wage rises and will help child care providers support wage increases. It continues the state’s commitment to improve child care quality and expand the availability of child care for babies. Increasing quality child care for infants and toddlers is a core goal of ACNJ’s Think Babies/Right From The Start Campaign. Thanks to the efforts of our many campaign partners, child care has become a top priority. The Murphy Administration says it, "is making child care a priority given its essential role in supporting working families and the importance of quality care in early childhood development.” Read more from NJDHS's news release. In May, ACNJ delivered a petition with more than 1,100 signatures from child care staff, parents and supporters, calling for an increase in the state subsidy to help offset the minimum wage increase. ACNJ's advocacy efforts, in collaboration with its partners, led to the $24 million increase in child care funding in the state budget.
